As an effective communication platform for the plastics and rubber industries, CHINAPLAS has the mission to cultivate, develop and promote the “Green” concept, which is both the forward-looking trend of the trade and a crucial element to the global environment. The theme of “Green Plastics. Our Goal. Our Future” has been started using in 2010 as the major show highlight, a variety of ‘green activities’ have been held since then. The Future is in Plastics & Rubber will be the focus of CHINAPLAS 2012. As future applications of plastics and rubber are far beyond imagination, we would like to stimulate innovative thoughts and create impressive designs on plastics / rubber products through collaboration with students from design universities, experts from the automotive and the plastics/rubber industries. The Future Zone in CHINAPLAS 2012 will be the limelight of the show which showcases innovative products combining advanced plastics and rubber technologies with forward-looking design insights. The displays at The Future Zone emphasizes on the eco-friendliness and sustainable properties of plastics and rubber in different applications. The Future Zone will be set up at Central Square of Shanghai New International Expo Centre, enjoying a 360°exposure to the show participants throughout show period (18-21 April, 2012). "The Future Fashion Show" will be held on 19-20 April at 10:30am, 1:30pm & 3:30pm at The Future Zone as one of the highlights activities under the theme of CHINAPLAS 2012 – "The Future is in Plastics and Rubber" where models will present tailor-made plastics and rubber fashions in The Future Zone.  The Future Zone consists of 2 parts, namely “Nurturing our Future” and “Premium Design Gallery”. | As the young generation is the leader of our future, CHINAPLAS invites East China University of Science and Technology and experts from the industrial sectors to co-operate, invent, produce and showcase FUTURE designs with major components made of plastics and rubber, crossing over innovations with advance technologies to better our future living. Otherwise, the designers have the right to pursue legal responsibilities) | The second consultation session was held on 7 Jan 2012 at the Campus of East China University of Science and Technology. Representatives from Shanghai GM / Pan Asia Technical Automotive Center Co., Ltd. and Kingfa Sci. & Tech. Co., Ltd. presented the application of plastic/rubber materials on automobiles, knowledge on car structure and the latest trends to students. The three groups of finalists had given impressive presentations and fruitful Q&A session has been held, a lot of interesting questions and key points were raised up during the session.  |  | | Professors and experts shared their views on the latest application of plastics and rubber. | Students listened to experts' introductions on the plastics and rubber applications in the automotive industry |  |  | | Students presented their innovative ideas on future cars to the experts | Mr. Shuwen Liu, consultant of this program answered the questions from students and media | The 1st consultation session was held on 30 November at the campus of East China University of Science and Technology.
