Physical and chemical properties of magnesium hydroxide: Colorless cubic column crystal (solid); magnesium hydroxide is insoluble in water and alcohol, soluble in dilute acid and ammonium salt solution, featuring a medium strong base. The solubility in water (18C) is 0.0009g/100g. When heated to more than 200C in alkaline solution, it produces hexagonal crystals and decomposes into magnesium oxide and water at 350C.
