Polyethylene (PE) is a thermoplastic resin prepared by polymerization of ethylene. In industry, copolymers of ethylene and small amounts of α-olefin are also included. Polyethylene odorless, non-toxic, feel like wax, has excellent low temperature resistance (the lowest use temperature can reach -100~-70C), good chemical stability, can withstand most acid and alkali erosion (not resistant to acid with oxidation properties). Insoluble in general solvents at room temperature, small water absorption, excellent electrical insulation. Polyethylene can be divided into high density polyethylene (HDPE), low density polyethylene (LDPE) and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) according to the polymerization method, molecular weight and chain structure.
