UPM Formi innovative biocomposite

UPM Global owns approximately 850,000 hectares of forest and plants 50 million trees worldwide each year. The annual carbon sink is 1.3 million tons of CO2 equivalent. A brand new biobased product family is UPM Formi EcoAce, a biocomposite which meets even the highest sustainability requirements. It contains certified wood and cellulose fibers as well as bioplastics sourced from UPM Biofuels plant, BioVerno naptha. UPM Formi composite can be used to replace plastic in many applications, from furniture to consumer electronics. The main applications for UPM Formi are injection moulding and 3D filaments.
The possible carbon footprint of the product made with UPM Formi EcoAce reduce up to 90%, compared to traditional oil based materials.
UPM Formi 3D creates added value and unique properties for PLA based 3D filaments via fine cellulose fibres. UPM Formi carbon footprint reduction up to 50%, compared to traditional oil based materials. The composites are 100% recyclable.
