Industry 4.0 Conference

The anticipating Industry 4.0 Conference, organized by Adsale and VDMA, will be held on 26-27 April 2016 at the venue of CHINAPLAS, the 30th International Exhibition of Plastics and Rubber Industries. Fabian Fischer is the head of the Department “Processing – new technologies for modern manufacturing” – in the field of Materials and Manufacturing at the Group Research of the Volkswagen AG.  Mr. Fischer is a Chemist and has a PhD in Technical Chemistry. For the last years Mr. Fischer has delved deeply the field of new production technologies for lightweight materials like fibre reinforced and unreinforced polymers and in the field of manufacturing of new hybrid materials for automotive application as well as innovative joining methods for new hybrid materials.”

After studying general mechanical engineering, Reinhard Schiffers completed his Ph.D. on "Process capability in injection molding" under Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wortbergat, the chair for "Design and plastics machinery" at the University of Duisburg-Essen.
Parallel to his activity for the professorial chair, he studied business economics at the FernUniversität (Open University) in Hagen.
After completing his Ph.D. in 2009, Reinhard Schiffers joined KraussMaffei Technologies GmbH in Munich, assuming responsibility for "Energy efficiency – BluePower" within the KraussMaffei Group.
Since 2012 he has been Head of the Machine Technology department within R&D, where his activities cover various areas:
- Development of hydraulics systems
- Development of plasticizing systems
- Measuring technology
- Pre-development
Mr. Carl Litherland
Head of Group Marketing

Carl Litherland is the third generation of his family to be working in plastics and has more than 25 years of experience in the development of automated raw materials management systems for the plastics manufacturing and processing industries. He is head of group marketing at motan and motan-colortronic.
The motan Group, with its headquarters in Constance on Lake Constance in Germany, was founded in 1947. As the leading provider of sustainable raw materials handling, the company is active in injection moulding, blow moulding, extrusion and compounding. Parts of the application-orientated product spectrum are innovative modular systems solutions for the storage, drying, and crystallisation, conveying, dosing and mixing of plastics. Production takes place at various locations in Germany, India and China.

Manfred Hackl, born 6 August 1968 in Linz, Austria.
After  successfully  attending  a  technical  high  school  (HTL)  for  mechanical engineering in Linz and completing the course in 1988 Manfred Hackl went on to study at Vienna's  Technical University for mechanical engineering where he graduated in 1995.
He joined EREMA in the same year as Quality Manager and then became Product  Manager for  PET  recycling  in  1998, responsible for both product development and sales in this division.
From 2004 to 2006 he was also Vice President of EREMA and since April
2006 he is CEO of EREMA.

Gerhard Böhm trained as a mechanical engineer, specialising in energy device electronics and subsequently graduated in electrical energy technology at the University of Konstanz. He spent twelve years in project management in the automotive industry, subsequently working in sales management. In 1989 he switched to machine tool construction. Gerhard Böhm has more than 20 years of experience in international sales. He was most recently responsible for international sales and marketing in a medium-sized family-run company. He joined ARBURG in mid-2015 and became Managing Director Sales in 2016.

Ralf Pampus is Managing Director of Reifenhäuser China. Additionally he is Director Strategic Sales and authorized representative of Reifenhäuser Blown Film in Germany. He is holding a master degree in industrial engineering with a major in plastic technology and a diploma degree in manufacturing technology. Juergen Weiner is the head of Discrete Industries and R&D, Manufacturing and EAM within the SAP Products & Innovation development organization.
Together with his team, he works on bringing new products to market, aligning and optimizing all of the related business processes to turn ideas into viable products.
Juergen joined SAP in 1995 as product manager for Cost Object Controlling. From 2000 till 2007 Juergen was responsible for the Industry Business Unit Aerospace & Defense and Machinery, Engineering and Construction. After a switch to LoB SME (Small Midsize Enterprise), where Juergen managed the overall SME Business All-in-One solution portfolio, he rejoined the Business Suite as product owner for Product Lifecycle Management and Manufacturing.
At his previous company Mannesmann Dematic, Juergen held a development management position in charge for Concept, Design, Development and Implementation of a variant configurator within several business units at Mannesmann. Juergen holds a PhD in computer science from the University of Duisburg. He studied economics and business engineering at the University of Karlsruhe.

Thomas Kosthorst joined Beckhoff Automation in 2005 and since then has headed the Business Management Plastic Processing Machines and Hydraulic Applications. A main focus of his activities is the development of control solutions for injection molding and blow molding machines. As the specialist for open PC-based control technology and one of the leading vendors of control solutions for plastic processing machines, Beckhoff has been committed to the development of open automation interfaces for many years. Against this background, Thomas Kosthorst has contributed to the creation of communication standards for plastic processing machines in the past decade, with the aim of enabling connectivity in production facilities.
Thomas Kosthorst graduated in electrical engineering at RWTH Aachen University, a technical university in Germany. After his first position with an engineering services provider, he moved to the plastics industry in 1990 where he gained extensive experience with his new employer Battenfeld. He started out as department head for measurement and control technology for extrusion machines, before being appointed head of control system development for injection molding systems in Germany and Austria. From 1999 to 2005, Thomas Kosthorst was responsible for the overall development activities for injection molding machines at Battenfeld.

Siegfried Köhler is responsible for worldwide sales of injection molding machines and equipment at WITTMANN BATTENFELD, Austria.
He is committed to bringing WITTMANN BATTENFELD’S ‘one-stop-shop’ message to customers; offering the world’s injection molders many interactive and cost-saving combinations of molding machines, robots and other peripheral equipment.
Siegfried Köhler has a unique perspective on the global plastics processing industry, having served it via a number of leading suppliers over the past twenty five years.
After a machinist apprenticeship and an education program at the HTL Technical College for engineering, Siegfried Köhler began his career with the Austrian engineering company Starlinger & Co, where he was responsible for special purpose machinery manufacturing and engineering.
Further appointments in Austria then followed; firstly for a trading company involved in peripheral equipment and then for a world-leading business manufacturing and supplying equipment for polymeric materials handling. He is delighted to be participating in Chinaplas 2016.
