Publish Date:January 9, 2008
The 22nd International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries ("Chinaplas 2008"), the World's No. 3 and Asia's No.1 plastics and rubber trade fair, will be held on April 17-20, 2008 at the Shanghai New International Expo Center, Pudong, Shanghai, PR China. Highly recognized in the plastics and rubber industries, 1,700 overseas and domestics suppliers had frequent discussion with the show organizer over the past few months on the availability of exhibition booth, aiming at seizing this golden opportunity to introduce their innovative technology and new products' features to over 60,000 worldwide visitors.

Mr. Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, organizer of Chinaplas, expressed at the press conference held this afternoon that Chinaplas 2008 has achieved a brilliant record of show scale. 11 exhibition halls plus additional 10,000sqm of temporary halls have all been confirmed or reserved. Mr. Chu pointed out that the staging of Chinaplas in Shanghai this year together with its record-breaking scale of 130,000 sqm will help to promote the development of plastics and rubber industries in Shanghai and East China.

Ms. Liu Jingfen, Vice President and Secretary General of Shanghai Society of Plastics Industry, stated that a continuous strong growth in plastics industry has been achieved in East China and Shanghai in 2007. She anticipated that output of plastic resin and copolymer will reach 12.93 million tons in 2007 while the output of plastics machinery will be 0.544 million tons, up to 74.5% of the national output. All in all, Shanghai and its regions contribute half of the total national output of plastics products in China. On the other hand, the rubber industry has also noted a sharp growth in China and forms gradually industrial clusters. The production lines and sales market of rubber products mainly concentrate along the coastal area of East China. For example, from the area of Yangtze River Delta to the East China region, industrial clusters of rubber tires, rubber ingredients and skeleton materials have already been formed.

Chinaplas 2008 continues to highlight the theme of "Bringing Innovations to Life, and Success to Your Business" and the show will display over 1,800 sets of machines plus a wide range of chemicals and raw materials for various industries. With the rapid development of plastics technology and plastic's high flexibility in nature, plastics can be applied to many industrial sectors, including automotive parts, building materials, information technology & telecommunication, packaging, electronics & electrical appliances, hardware tools, medical equipment etc.

Mr. Miao Gen, Secretary General of Shanghai Household Electric Appliance Professional Association, said, "In the coming years, household appliances in China will enter a stable growth stage. The growth rate of new products will reach 15%. Currently in China, the ratio of plastics applying to household appliance is 60% in vacuum cleaner, 38% in refrigerator, 34% in washing machine, 23% in television and 10% in air conditioner. Growing with new plastic materials and process technology, plastic household appliance will become the trend in the industry, which will generate increasing demand for plastic materials. The market will request for higher quality and environmental friendly plastic materials for household appliances. Furthermore, recycle of abandoned household appliances will be forecasted as a potential business."

Mr. Gao Ming, Secretary General of Plastics Piping Sub-Committee, Shanghai Chemical Building Material Trade Association, expressed that plastic piping usage remains a speedy growth in 2006. The national output of plastic piping increases 20% to above 2.9 million tons comparing with 2005. In view of the staging of World Expo in 2010 and city reformation in Shanghai, Mr Gao anticipated plastic piping will extend to new market and has a remarkable development in the coming 3 years.
