- ●The first CHINAPLAS was held in Beijing.
- ●Approximately 100 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions participated in the fair. Germany and Italy were the first two countries to organize pavilions for the fair.

1984 – Shanghai
- ●CHINAPLAS was held in Shanghai for the first time.
- ●France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K, organized country pavilions.
- ●197 international exhibitors from 14 countries and regions participated.

- ●National Technical Committee on Plastic Products of Standardization Administration of China(TC48) was established, which was responsible for standardizing quality of plastic products in compliance with ISO Standard.
1986 – Beijing
- ●CHINAPLAS returned to Beijing for its third edition, with nearly triple the scale of the first exhibition. 250 exhibitors showcased their expertise on 14,000 sqm of exhibition space.
- ●81 technical seminars were held simultaneously with the show, making CHINAPLAS the ideal platform for technological exchange between overseas suppliers and Chinese end users.
1990 – Beijing
- ●Two breakthroughs occurred in this year’s CHINAPLAS:
- 1.The first time enterprises from Mainland China exhibited at the show.
- 2.CHINAPLAS obtained certification from the US Department of Commerce, affirming its status as an international fair for trade and technological exchange for the plastics and rubber industries.
1996 – Beijing
- ●The 10th edition of CHINAPLAS set down new milestones for the show: Nearly 300 exhibitors from 17 countries and regions participated, and the exhibition area reached 20,000 sqm.
- ●The “Chemicals and Raw Materials Zone” was set up in CHINAPLAS for the first time, and from this year onwards, CHINAPLAS became an annual event instead of being held once every one and a half years.

- ●The output volume of the plastic products exceeded 7.7 million tons. And the consumption of plastic synthetic resins reached 11.6 million tons.
1998 – Guangzhou
- ●Although Asia was badly struck by the economic crisis in 1997-1998, CHINAPLAS was successfully held in Guangzhou for the first time.
- ●348 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions exhibited in the event.
- ●Austria, Germany, Italy, the USA, and Taiwan organized country/ region pavilions.
- ●Exhibition area: 12,000 sqm.
2000 – Shanghai
- ●At the turn of the new millennium, CHINAPLAS surged forward to a vigorous start. The exhibition area expanded to encompass 27,000 sqm with 410 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions.
- ●The total number of visitors was 52,000, coming from all parts of China.

- ●The output volume of plastic products was over 10.357 million tons.
2002 – Shanghai
- ●The 9/11 terrorist attack in the USA negatively influenced the global economy. In 2002, CHINAPLAS was held for the first time at the exhibition center in Pudong, Shanghai.
- ●CHINAPLAS achieved new heights at this exhibition, with the fairground’s area increasing to 36,000 sqm. The show began to attract overseas visitors, who comprised 11.5% of all visitors.
2004 – Shanghai
- ●Exhibition area rose to 60,000 sqm.
- ●937 exhibitors from 26 countries and regions displayed over 500 sets of machines.
- ●“Chinese Export Machinery Hall” was set up to address the export needs of Chinese enterprises.
- ●7,028 overseas visitors from 57 countries and regions came to the show, laying the foundation for CHINAPLAS as the No. 1 plastics and rubber exhibition in Asia.

- ●The export volume of plastic products was gradually increased, and became the 5th largest of sector in the export volume of light industry exports. The export volume of plastic products reached 107.84 million tons, with a growth rate of 22.77%.
2005 – Guangzhou
- ●CHINAPLAS was recognized as the No.1 exhibition in Asia for plastics and rubber industries. In the same year, Messe Dusseldorf China Ltd, a subsidiary of K Fair’s Organizer - Messe Dusseldorf GmbH in Germany, signed a cooperation agreement with Adsale and became one of the co-organizers of CHINAPLAS.
- ●Austria, Canada, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, PR China, Taiwan, the USA and UK organized country/ region pavilions at the fair.
- ●1,109 exhibitors from 30 countries and regions participated in the fair. The exhibition area reached 77,000 sqm.
- ●There were 52,009 visitors, of which 15% (7,921) came from overseas.
2007 – Guangzhou
- ●To bring the plastics industry of China and India together for the mutual cooperation and business promotion, ‘China-India Plastics Industry Summit 2007’ was organized.
- ●‘Charity Bazaar’ was organized to fundraise for the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC), exhibitors and visitors were enthusiastic to contribute for the charity sales.

- ●The export of the three major plastic machines (including extrusion, injection molding and blow molding machines) increased dramatically, reaching 39,700 sets, and the export value was up to USD820 million.
2008 – Shanghai
- ●1,767 exhibitors from 35 countries and regions participated in the fair,: Austria, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, PR China, Taiwan, the USA and UK organized country/ region pavilions.
- ●Exhibition area rose to 134,500 sqm.
- ●There were 71,261 visitors, of which 16% (11,760) came from overseas.
- ●“Plastics & Rubber in Sports – Innovative Plastics & Rubber, Sports without Limit” was organized to coincide with the 2008 Beijing Olympics, and a demonstration zone was set up to display the various applications of plastics and rubber in the sports industry.

- ●The number of enterprises above the designated scale of plastics industry increased to 16,277, the overall production value reached 900 billion RMB, with a growth rate of 20.86%.
2009 – Guangzhou
- ●1,840 exhibitors from 35 countries and regions participated in the fair:, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, PR China, Taiwan, the USA and UK organized country/ region pavilions.
- ●Exhibition area rose to 140,000 sqm.
- ●“Connecting Hearts with Sichuan‧Joining Hands on Reconstruction Projects” activities were organized, which demonstrated the enthusiasm and support of the plastics and rubber industries for Sichuan’s reconstruction projects. A new theme zone, “Plastic Building Materials Pavilion”, was set up to showcase the extensive application of plastics in the building and construction industry.

- ●The output volume of plastic synthetic resins exceeded 31.296 million tons, comparing with the production volume of 20 million tons in 1949, it has increased by over 156,480 times. China climbed to the second largest country for the production of plastic synthetic resins.
2010 – Shanghai
- ●A new record was set for the number of exhibitors this year, 2,144, arriving from 32 countries and regions. Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, PR China, Taiwan, the USA and UK organized country/ region pavilions.
- ●Exhibition area rose to 150,000 sqm.
- ●A series of concurrent activities under the theme of "Green Plastics. Our Goal. Our Future", including Industrial forum and Green Corner, were held to promote the importance and influence of “Going Green” in achieving sustainable development for the plastics and rubber industries.
