|Rapid Development of 3D Medical Printing and Antibacterial Materials|
|Publish Date: 2021/01/04|
|The global antibacterial plastic market is expected to reach USD 34, 653 million by the end of 2025, growing at a 7.02% CAGR during 2020-2025. Since the epidemic, antibacterial plastics have developed more rapidly. This new type of functional material with the ability to inhibit or kill bacteria on the surface of objects is getting popular and widely used.
In view of the ongoing and uncertain epidemic development, in addition to adopting strict prevention and control measures, protective medical equipment with antibacterial and sterilized materials can help reduce the spread of germs and the risk of infection. Among them, BASF’s polytetrahydrofuran (PolyTHF™) is widely used in healthcare industry such as ear straps for masks and flexible straps for medical protective clothing. PolyTHF™'s antibacterial properties and stable performance when exposed to water enable the spandex fabric to remain flexible even when users are sweating, make it better in antibacterial performance and more comfortable to wear. In addition, the materials with antibacterial and sterilization functions can be applied to the screens of electronic medical products to reduce the risk of germ spreading.
With the advancement of 3D printing technology, its application in medical industry is getting broad. Arburg’s upgraded Freeformer 300-3X 3D printing machine which can process plastic granulates of the kind also used in injection moulding. This makes it possible to process bio-compatible, absorbable and sterializable as well as FDA-approved original materials for medical industry. It can accomplish very demanding applications that other processes cannot handle, such as absorbable implants, bone implants and soft tissue.
CHINAPLAS 2021 concurrent event – Medical Plastic Connect will present the innovations of medical plastics including the latest technologies of sterilizing & antibacterial materials, 3D printing & intervention consumables, biocompatible materials and intelligent healthcare product solutions etc. Medical device, disposables and pharmaceutical packaging manufacturers can explore the applications of these cutting-edge solutions through 3 sessions of seminar and “Medical Plastics Guidebook". Amcor, RJG and more medical plastic material and solution providers will share their knowledge and know-how.
If you are interested in sharing your latest technologies at our dedicated seminars or promoting your exhibits on Medical Plastic Guidebook which will be published in March, CONTACT US NOW!
