The FR grade of Ultramid® T6000 is specifically designed for EV applications, offering exceptional high strength ideal for terminal block use. This innovative material enhances the durability of electrical systems in new energy vehicles by withstanding thermal shock from -40°C to 150°C for 1,000 cycles and provides excellent electrical isolation for terminal blocks and high voltage busbars, significantly improving safety on the vehicle's 800V platform. A standout feature is its non-halogenated flame retardant, which minimizes the risk of metal corrosion and meets stringent safety standards, ensuring protection for vehicle occupants in the event of a fire.

Plastic Air Tank

A commercial vehicle air tank co-created with WAL Low Carbon Technology (Anhui) Co. Ltd (WAL) and made with BASF's high-performance material solution Ultramid® polyamide. The innovative solution achieves a weight reduction of 10-20% compared to aluminum alternatives and over 50% compared to steel versions. Production of the air tank is also more energy efficient, since it only needs a one-piece injection molding process. This eliminates the need for secondary welding operations that are typically required for metal versions. Combined with its high burst pressure resistance above 50 bar (5MPa), the solution demonstrates consistent product quality and reliability in this demanding application.

BASF's Ultramid® solutions for extrudable busbar insulation

BASF's solution for extrudable busbar insulation is a material designed to meet market demands. It offers a broad processing window, good extrudability, reliable bending performance, effective insulation, anti-aging properties.

The BASF solution integrates with mainstream long-chain PA, ensuring production efficiency with minimal adjustments. Its extrudability and thickness control enable precise insulation layers. The material's bonding strength with metal prevents bulging at bending corners, which is important for EV battery busbars. It maintains a smooth appearance after bending.

With high initial resistance and dielectric performance under DC5000V, the BASF solution prevents electric breakdowns at high voltages. It retains insulation even after a 7-day water bath, suitable for moist environments. Operating effectively from -40 to 125°C, the BASF solution withstands harsh conditions while maintaining stable performance, ensuring durability in extreme temperatures and prolonged exposure to stressors.
