Polyphenylene Sulfide composite material
The main chain of polyphenylene sulfide connected by rigid benzene ring and flexible sulfide bond has the characteristics of both rigid and flexible, and high crystallinity. On the main chain, the benzene ring forms conjugation with the sulfur atom, and the sulfur atom is not saturated. After oxidation, the sulfur ether bond can be changed into sulfoxide and sulfone group, or the benzene ring and adjacent macromolecules can form oxygen bridge branching or crosslinking. The main chain is not broken and the thermal oxygen stability is prominent. The polarity of sulfur atom is bound by benzene ring conjugation and high crystallinity, the whole polymer shows the characteristics of non-polarity or weak polarity, and the electrical insulation, dielectric and chemical resistance are also prominent. Polyphenylene sulfide has good compatibility with many polymers. It is currently listed as the "world's sixth largest engineering plastic" and one of the eight major aerospace materials.
