It is a good non-ionic surfactant made from a variety of fatty acids and polyglycerol of different polymerization levels. It belongs to the monoglyceride derivative, but is different from organic acid monoglyceride. It contains many hydrophilic hydroxyl groups. Its hydrophilic increases as glycerol polymerization increases while lipophilicity differs as alkyl group of fatty acids differs. So by changing the degree of polyglycerol polymerization, fatty acid species (oleic acid , Stearic acid, lauric acid, neodecanoic acid, lactic acid, lactic acid) and esterification degree, a series of polyglyceryl ester products could be made with HLB values (1 to 20) and different properties from lipophilic to hydrophilic for different usage.
