Being one of four most important fundamental materials in modern industry, plastics and rubber's range of application goes far beyond daily living goods, packaging products and exterior cases of electronic and electrical products, and its application has further extended to automotive, building and construction, medical and even aviation. However, it has been misunderstood by the public that the utilization of plastics and rubber leads to serious environmental pollution. In fact, with speedy development of technology, plus innovation and utilization of green plastics and energy-saving plastics machines, the previous properties of high energy consumption, high emission and low degradability have been addressed, whilst the state-of-the-art plastics machines make it possible to streamline the procedure, reduce the raw materials so as to realize the concepts of green manufacturing and resource-saving, and help achieve sustainable development of eco-environmental protection and development of circular economy.
To cope with the green trend, the plastics industry will increase input from different aspects to promote sustainable development in the industry during the 12th Five-Year Plan. Mr Liao Zheng Pin, President of China Plastics Processing Industry Association attended CHINAPLAS 2010 press conference held at Beijing this afternoon (March 17) and he expressed that during the 12th Five-Year Plan, the industry will optimize the product design and economical use of materials, such as optimizing the design of hollow product and controlling its wall thickness, and to encourage domestic suppliers of plastics machines to develop energy conservation products. In addition, the industry will also step up recycling of plastics waste and move toward circular economy and sustainable development; while also increasing effort on research and development of degradable plastics, and achieving industrialization as soon as possible.
Growing up with the plastics industry, CHINAPLAS always keeps pace with the development trend of the industry. The 24th edition of CHINAPLAS, held from April 19 to 22, 2010 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Shanghai, PR China, will organize a series of concurrent events under the theme of "Green Plastics. Our Goal. Our Future". "With the increasing awareness of global environmental protection, the green plastics and machines for energy-saving and emission reduction will gradually become the trend setter," said Mr. Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, Organizer of CHINAPLAS. In a move to promote the role and contribution of green machines and environmentally friendly plastics, a series of "Industrial Forum on Green Plastics and Rubber" will be held during the first three days of CHINAPLAS (April 19-21). The forum is held to gather the worldwide materials and machine suppliers, experts and users and facilitate exchange of their valuable views on sustainable development strategies, and experience sharing on the applications of green plastics technology and successful cases in the sectors of automotive, building & construction, packaging, E&E, information technology and telecommunications. The invited speakers will include experts from trade associations: China Plastics Processing Industry Association, China Plastic Machine Industry Association, China Rubber Industry Association, Europe's Association for Plastics and Rubber Machinery Manufacturers, The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc, The Japan Plastics Industry Federation, etc; exhibitors : BASF, DSM, Haitian, Bayer MaterialScience and DuPont; end users : Shanghai General Motors PATAC, Shanghai Shuanglu Electric Appliance, Wuhan Zhenbang Food Packaging, etc. In addition, on-site "Green Corner" will also showcase the most advanced environmentally friendly plastic products and technologies so as to encourage suppliers and buyers to adopt more green plastic technologies, while visitors will have a better understanding of the latest development trend of energy saving, environmental protection, recycling and regeneration technologies.
Besides concurrent activities, exhibitors will also demonstrate their support and determination to protect the environment. Haitian, Demag, Hwamda, Piovan, Cosmos, Schneider, Yizumi, etc, will display their machine with excellent features of energy-saving; Kingfa, Wearmax, Shenzhen Keju, Oxobioplast, NHH Biodegrable, Ecomann Biotechnology, etc. will exhibit their biodegradable materials and technology; Zerma, Fangli Group, Jiangsu Liangguan, S+S Separation and Sorting, Oude, Shini Plastics, Rapid, Sorema Div. Of Previero N. Srl, etc, will highlight their recycling equipment and technology.
To reinforce the concept of green manufacturing and low-carbon economy, Mrs. Su Dong Ping, Secretary of China Plastic Machine Industry Association would implement three major initiatives during CHINAPLAS 2010, including request all machine exhibitors to ensure that their injection molding machine exhibits comply with the requirement of national standard, so as to provide users with machines which are green, environmentally friendly, safety and low-carbon; request exhibitors to post the energy-saving labels on the injection molding machines; share experience on energy-saving issues of injection molding machines with the industry by participating in CHINAPLAS 2010's forum.
There is one month ahead of the opening of CHINAPLAS 2010. Over 2,100 world renowned exhibitors from more than 30 countries and regions, along with 10 country/region pavilions from Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, US, China and Taiwan Province, will jointly welcome 75,000 visitors from over 130 countries and regions.
Currently, overseas buyer groups from India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brazil, Egypt, Malaysia, Iran, Turkey, Philippines, Korea, etc. have indicated their interest in attending CHINAPLAS 2010, whereas dragon head buyers from China, such as Midea, 3M, Foxconn, Dongfeng Motor, Wahaha, MicroPort Scientific, Goodbaby, etc. will organize groups to visit the show. CHINAPLAS 2010's influence and importance are also highly reflected by the overwhelming response from the user associations.
