CHINAPLAS 2010 Creates Remarkable Success with Over 80,000 Visitors

The 24th International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries (also known as CHINAPLAS 2010) was successfully concluded on April 22 in Shanghai New International Expo Centre, Shanghai, PR China. As the renowned event for the plastics and rubber industries in Asia and the world, the four-day CHINAPLAS 2010 has attracted a total of 81,435 trade visitors from 136 countries and regions. Among them, 14,701 visitors were overseas buyers, accounting for 18.1% of the total. The eagerness of overseas exhibitors and visitors for participating in this industry-leading event has remained strong even though most flights from Europe were grounded by the volcanic ash clouds from Iceland, demonstrating the consolidated role of CHINAPLAS as Asia's No. 1 plastics and rubber trade fair.

Focusing Green Technology with Supports from Exhibitors

With enormous supports from the industry, CHINAPLAS 2010, which is the largest scale in its show's history, has continued its excellent track records. Occupying an exhibition area of 150,000sqm, 2,144 exhibitors from 32 countries and regions together with pavilions from Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, US, China and Taiwan Province showcased their 1900 sets of machines, plus a wide range of advanced chemicals and raw materials, providing buyers with a convenient one-stop platform for sourcing exhibits ranging from green plastics and rubber raw materials to energy-saving machines. All exhibitors and visitors have highly recognized this exhibition.

As one of the exhibitors, Mr. Mark Miao, General Manager of Avian (Shanghai) Machinery Co Ltd said, "We are impressed by the overwhelming visitor flow this year! CHINAPLAS is our important sales channel each year. It has successfully brought us a lot of domestic and overseas clients. We must come back for CHINAPLAS next year, and I'm sure our exhibition area will have a double expansion."

Another exhibitor, Borouge (Singapore) also expressed their affirmation on the show quality. "We get a very good quality of visitors, especially in comparison with previous years. Many customers attended CHINAPLAS 2010. It helps our business development by giving us a chance of getting contact with lots of customers. We will definitely participate in CHINAPLAS 2011 which will take place in Guangzhou," said Miss Katinka Brodahl, Trade Media Relations Specialist of Borouge.

Buyers Highly Excited About the Unlimited Business Opportunities

CHINAPLAS' visitor profile covers various plastics and rubber application sectors, such as automotive, building and construction, E&E, IT and telecommunications, packaging, toys, moulds, food packaging, etc. A number of renowned manufacturing enterprises, including Midea, Wahaha, Foxconn, Southern Packaging, Toyota Gosei, Yanfeng Visteon Betung Automotive Instrumentation, YAPP Automotive Parts and MicroPort Medical, etc., were greatly impressed by the professionalism and quality elements of CHINAPLAS 2010.

Besides, the show also received tremendous support by buyer groups organized by local associations, such as Cast Film Professional Committee of CPPIA, Medical Plastics Professional Committee of China Plastics Processing Industrial Association Council, CWPCU, Plastics Product Committee of China Packaging Federation, Shanghai Association of Die & Mould, Guangdong Province Packs The Industry Chamber of Commerce, Suzhou's trade associations from the sectors of E&E, integrated circuit, electroplating, food and automobile, plus plastics industry associations from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Yunan, Anhui, Xinjiang, Shenzhen, Shantou, etc.

In addition, the high degree of professionalism demonstrated in CHINAPLAS 2010 has been highly recognized by numerous participants. Deputy Secretary-General of Suzhou Plastics and Chemicals Industry Association, Mr. Zheng Xiaopeng who has attended this exhibition for 10 years, expressed, "The attractiveness of this exhibition lies on its professionalism. There is one theme for the exhibition every year and I can always learn something from it. The theme this year is related to environmental protection - "Green Plastics. Our Goal. Our Future". I visited the show with other industry experts and some of them are even exhibitors. Being the exhibitors, they are benefited from the business opportunities brought by CHINAPLAS; whereas as the visitors, we could understand more about plastics and rubber production and development within the industry."

Mr. Hongsheng Cai, Director of DEFU Metalized (China) was impressed by the larger show scale and increased overseas participants in CHINAPLAS 2010. He said that the staging of CHINAPLAS can help the domestic enterprises to understand more about the global trend.

As a first-time visitor to CHINAPLAS, Mr. Hernan Arrillage, Purchasing Manager of Nicieza Y Taverna Hnos S.A. (Argentina) expressed, "We are very impressed by the well-organized CHINAPLAS. We look for extrusion machines and raw materials, and we are busy here to visit such a large-scale exhibition. It's the biggest one that I have ever seen. CHINAPLAS is really interesting and I'm sure that we must come back next year."

Moreover, as a frequent visitor to CHINAPLAS, Mr. Peter Williams, Director & Chief Operating Officer of Toyota Tsusho (Australia) Pty. Ltd. pointed out, "Our major purpose to be here is to source different types of plastics materials which are suitable for different kinds of auto parts like bumper, wheels, window sweeper, etc. We are surprised that the show keeps improving in terms of its onsite facilities and scale. There is a wide variety of exhibits for selection and we were able to find our interested materials here."

Exciting Concurrent Activities Well Received by the Industry

As a leading international exchange platform for information and technology in plastics and rubber industries, CHINAPLAS makes great efforts every year to organize inspiring concurrent activities. Staying in touch with the latest market trends and focusing on the topics of environmental protection and low-carbon economy in the manufacturing industry, CHINAPLAS 2010 initiated a high-end "Industrial Forum on Green Plastics and Rubber" under the theme of "Green Plastics. Our Goal. Our Future" on the first three show days (from April 19 to April 21) in a bid to convey the latest trends of plastics and rubber development to the industry players and user enterprises. The forum has brought the green suppliers, association experts and user representatives of the industry around the world together to exchange their valuable ideas on the application of green plastics and rubber technology on such industries as automotive, building and construction, packaging, E&E as well as the importance of sustainability. The six sessions of the forum on various plastics and rubber applications were well attended by trade professionals. Over 60 technical seminars have been held to analyze various aspects of the trend, latest technology, market demand and user expectation. These seminars, which were highly commended by the visitors, helped the attendees to master the market trend, solve technical problems and make a better self-positioning.

Besides satisfying the industry's pressing demands on information technology and market news, CHINAPLAS has always been dedicated to providing quality business services to the industry. Following the successful co-organization of business matching activity in partnership with HC360 last year, CHINAPLAS 2010 and HC360 once again organized the business matching activity in tandem in the afternoon of April 20, during which about 30 premium buyers from all around China conducted business discussion with over 100 exhibitors to look for business partners from various industries for entering into business deals. According to the organizer, this business matching activity was successful, with RMB 76 millions worth of proposed procurement being made by the buyers on that single day.
