China's New Five-Year Plan Brings New Trends
During the 12th Five-Year Plan (2011 - 2015), China will focus on the development of seven emerging industries that have strategic importance, which are energy conservation and environment protection, new-generation information technology, biology, high-end machine building, new energy, new materials and new energy cars. In the coming five years, the development of smart grid, wind power, solar power and new energy cars, etc. will create enormous demand on high-tech materials, modified plastics, bio-plastics, specialty rubber and large processing machines that are precise and energy-saving. This will also speed up the upgrading of the plastics and rubber industries.
Shanghai - At Heart of the Most Developed Regions in China
East China, one of the fastest and most developed regions in China, is an important R & D and production centre of plastics materials. The region produced 24.66m tons of finished products in plastics in 2010, accounting for 42% of the total domestic output. Shanghai, the hub of East China hinterland, is home to numerous world-leading manufacturers of plastics and rubber products as well as machinery. The total output of plastic products in Shanghai reached 2.04m tons in 2010, while resin output grossed 4.906m tons, up 27% year on year. Shanghai's plastics and rubber industries are currently shifting towards high-tech, high value-added and innovation-oriented development.
The 12th Five-Year Plan Shanghai prioritizes the development of innovation engineering plastics, plastic alloys, modified composites, building and decorative materials and stealth materials to meet the need of some large projects in aerospace, maritime engineering, wind power and urban rail transit. Therefore, CHINAPLAS 2012 will serve as the most effective platform for technology suppliers to tap into the prosperous Eastern China market.
