Kolon Industries launches world-first low-carbon medical plastic

Kolon Industries is launching a global-first low-carbon engineering plastic for medical applications, called Kocetal ECO-E. This polyoxymethylene (POM) plastic is made using methanol derived from renewable energy. It reduces carbon emissions while retaining the durability, wear resistance, and dimensional stability of conventional POM. Mass production begins in the second half of 2026, with commercial shipments scheduled for the fourth quarter. Kolon plans to expand this sustainable plastic portfolio into other high-value industries like automobiles and electronics.
