Useful Local Apps for Visiting China

Check-in

Visiting China can never be smooth and enjoyable without the right apps. There are various essential, user-friendly apps recommended for all participants of CHINAPLAS 2026, especially for overseas visitors.

Maps & Navigation

Amap (高德地图)

This is the comprehensive mapping tool for visitors traveling in China. It offers full English language support and delivers highly accurate, real-time navigation, including metro information, bus routes, and traffic updates.

Apple Maps

A reliable and convenient alternative for iPhone users.

DiDi (滴滴出行)

It is China’s most popular ride-hailing app and an indispensable tool for efficient travel, functioning much like Uber. The app is highly user-friendly for international visitors, featuring a fully localized English interface and seamless support for international credit cards in all major cities.

Friendly reminder: Download Amap and DiDi before arriving in China, and switch the interface to your preferred language mode.

Translation

Baidu Translate

The translation app is certified by the Chinese government, making it a trusted resource powered by the prestigious Oxford and Collins dictionaries.

Youdou Translate

It supports 108 languages and features advanced live-action AR, photo, and simultaneous voice translation, working reliably in both online and offline modes.

Mobile Payment

China has become a largely cashless society with digital payments the norm. To ensure a smooth experience, it is essential to set up at least one of the two apps below before you arrive.

Alipay (支付宝)

It is widely considered the most traveler-friendly option designed specifically for overseas visitors. It offers a robust International Version with a clean English interface and quickly links major international credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Discover) directly.

WeChat Pay (微信支付)

Integrated into the WeChat social app, this is the most common payment method among locals, combining messaging and payment in one app. It works at virtually every vendor in China, including small family-run stalls.

Friendly reminder: Set up Alipay and WeChat Pay before arriving in China, as linking foreign cards may take some time. Check out the Step-by-Step guide (English Content Only).
